Can you believe today is the halfway point for January? It feels like we just celebrated New Year’s (maybe that’s because we finally took down all of the Christmas decorations).
Yesterday was the start of my second week of training for the Cherry Blossom 10 Miler. I had four miles on the schedule, and since it’s still not ideal outdoor running conditions early in the morning, I was back spending some quality time with the treadmill. My arms were still a little sore from Saturday’s weight workout and Sunday’s yoga class, but my legs felt good and I want to challenge myself a little bit. I played around with the speed and incline and the forty minutes went by fairly quickly.
Here’s a better look at the how the workout broke down. Again, I made this up on the fly based on what I know works for me (since I’m not a professional or anything).
I’ve probably pushed it a tad too hard lately for my “easy days” (meaning not a long run or speed work), but I need to mental challenge of making up these workouts to keep from losing my mind while on the treadmill. Wednesday I have a tempo run scheduled, and then I have one more easy run scheduled for Thursday, so my plan as of right now is to make that run a true easy run, or as close to what passes as an easy run for me these days. Even if it bores me to tears.
Although my time on the treadmill flew by yesterday morning, the same could not be said about the rest of my day. The combination of some gloomy weather and what felt like a longer than usual day of work (somebody had a case of the Mondays), I was ready for a cozy night in with a glass a wine and a good book. So that’s exactly what I did. Hey, it was Monday. Need to pace myself for the rest of the week.
Now it’s your turn! What do you when you have the Mondays?
