As I mentioned on Friday, I was feeling under the weather towards the end of the week. I managed to pick up the cold that has been going around (thankfully not the flu) and by Thursday was forced out of denial about how I was feeling. I took both Thursday and Friday as total rest days with the hope of being able to squeeze in a few miles at some point this weekend. This meant I bailed on my spin plans for Friday night, but when I woke up Saturday morning feeling much better, I knew this was the right decision.
My plan for Saturday was to run 6 miles. Since I wasn’t sure how well this run would go because of my cold, I decided to stick close to home so I could cut my run short if necessary. Around 9:00, I bundled up and was on my way.
Maureen 1, Cold 0. Despite not feeling 100%, I felt pretty good throughout this run. Other than a stitch in my right side about 4 miles in, I had no issues. I even managed to knock out some solid splits.
After my run, I grabbed a bite to eat and did a quick change so I could make it to a yoga class. This class was a mixed level class as opposed to the beginner level classes I usually take and was definitely a challenge. It felt good to stretch out and try out some new poses. Definitely a reminder to continue pushing myself.
The rest of Saturday involved errand running, laundry, and relaxing. I don’t know about you, but this long weekend came at the perfect time for me. I can’t believe that we’re already this far into January! Time is certainly flying by and I’m planning to take this long weekend to slow down and soak it all in.
Now it’s your turn! How are you spending this long weekend? Long run? Friend dates (I’ve got one of those on tap today)? Tell me about it!

Glad you’re feeling better! You had a great run! I did a 16 mile run yesterday. It was awesome!
