Shake Things Up

Oh short weeks, how I love thee. Two days of work and your staring down the weekend. Things have been a little unsettled this week since my schedule changed, but I’m trying to establish a routine to smooth out the transition.

Yesterday was a speed work day. The plan was for four miles, 2 miles at 8:47 pace with 1/2 mile recovery. Since I sped through Monday’s easy run, I figured I wouldn’t have too much trouble maintaining the 8:47 pace. The first mile, no problem. Second mile, a little tougher.

Wednesday

I did a half mile warm up and cool down to get to the full four miles.

This was a good, hard, run. The second mile repeat was a little tougher. Never underestimate how tough the treadmill can be, it is seriously no joke. I was a gross, sweaty mess by the time I was done. Pretty much my favorite way to start the morning, but that is just me.

With my new schedule, I’ve been pushed out of my very comfortable routine (well, as comfortable as 4:30 AM wakeup calls can be). While I set a goal this year to try new things, so far I’ve been fairly stagnant. This (kinda) abrupt change might be just what I need to break out of my comfort zone. Going forward, there are a few things I want to keep in mind:

It’s a little turbulent at the moment. I don’t know what’s going to happen, but hopefully good things are on the horizon.

Now it’s your turn! How do you know when it’s time to break out of your comfort zone?

Props to you for being up at 4:30am! Maybe I should take a leaf out of your book…I’m pretty sure my alarm will go off and I’ll probably roll over though :/

It’s tough. There are days when all I want to do is turn off the alarm and stay in bed. It helps for me to keep my alarm on the opposite side of the room, then I have to get out of bed!
